GREASEPAINT
A - It's a personal preference. Because skin is different (oily, dry, blotchy, etc) what works well for one, may not with someone else. We stock: 1. MEHRON - First choice and probably the most popular. They also have a Clown White Lite which is a "whipped" formula, highly pigmented and less greasy. 2. BEN NYE Clown White is "very white". People tell me they have won competitions wearing this. They also have a Clown White Lite in their Professional Clown Series which is less greasy and goes on smooth as silk (on me). 3. KRYOLAN - an all-time favorite with pro clowns. 4. PROFACE - a long wearing formula with skin care ingredients. Clowns tell me it is a "little more difficult to put on and take off, but worth the effort". They also have a Gala Competition White. 5. JIM HOWLE - We hear more raves about his Clown White. "It goes on like butter." A simple formula that has no preservatives.
HOBO & TRAMP MAKE-UP Ben Nye has a wonderful Auguste color in the Professional Clown Series. It is a darker base, not orangish or pinkish. More like you would expect to see a hobo, dark and sunburned. They also have dry rouge in Brick Red which works well for cheeks.(applied last after powdering) There is a lot of white available in many brands. I personally like Jim Howle's because it is so easy to apply, especially around sensitive eye areas. And for the same reason, I like Mehron's Eye Area Makeup Remover. Jim Howle has a nice gray for beards and 3 shades of red. True red might be better for hobos. If you have more questions ask Rie at: rie@metrocast.net |
